How can you troubleshoot your Canon Pixma MP480?

Canon boasts of its long line of printers that are considered to be ‘all in one’ printers because of their ability to perform a multiple of functions. This particular printer is able to print colored photos as well as perform other print jobs. It also comes with a scanner and a copier. In case you experience a problem with it, the following is a guideline on how you can trouble shoot it:

Properly connect the printer and the power chord to the wall outlet if you have one. The back of the Canon MP480 Pixma is where you will connect the power cord.

If the printer stopped working in the middle of the job then remove the paper jam. The jam should be located next to the rear tray the slot for the paper out put. Before pressing the ‘OK’ button on the printer, remove the paper jam. This can be done without necessarily opening the unit. Turn off the printer if you are not able to see the jam and open the scanner bed. Once you have located and removed the paper jam, press ‘OK’.

In case the work you were printing or copying cannot be completed then select “prevent loss of print data”. All you have to do is go to the file menu where you will see the print options. Click ‘page set up’ then select ‘prevent loss of print data’. Once you have done this, retry to print or copy your work again.

If you find that the work you were printing or copying cannot be completed then try to create space on your hard drive. If the free memory in your hard disk is to small, it might cause your printer or copier to stop working. You can free p your hard disk memory by deleting files that you do not use. Once you have done this retry printing or copying again.

If you receive a scanning error message on your computer, then try connecting the USB cable on another port in your computer then try scanning again

If your scanner stops working or is not responding, restart your computer. Usually, this helps the computer to fix any problems and reset itself.

If your scanner is slow, try and adjust the resolution on your computer. You can do this by opening the software for the MP Navigator which is on your printer. Select the file menu and then select the scan settings and choose the resolution that you want. The resolution should be between 75 dpi to 300 dpi.

To reset you Canon, turn it off and unplug it from the outlet. Plug it in after a few seconds then try and print again.

The resolution of the printer may depend on the settings of the drivers. The printer is compatible only with specific memory cards. Ensure that you take care of your printer well because it comes with a warranty that is subject to change.
